Kits does not want to make money on our shipping rates. WE try to offer fair
and reasonable shipping and handling rates. Matter of fact we just lowered our
prices, so now you only have to pay $1.98 shipping on a pattern. One thing to
keep in mind about shipping rates is that there must also be a handling charge
to pay the person who packages and ships your product out, it can easily take
10 to 15 minuets per order. So your shipping and handling cost will usually
only be a couple of dollars more than the actual postal shipping charge. Of
course there is also the challenge of working with a on-line shopping cart.
;o) usually it works out to be pretty close but sometimes the price can get up
there but the weight of the package doesn't, so if you think that maybe that
is the case with your order, feel free to ask us if we can give you a more
accurate shipping quote. Also unless otherwise stated your package will be shipped
Priority mail, will be insured and come with tracking information.
Is your shopping cart secure?
Easy Quilt Kits uses only a SSL secure shopping cart system,
see
security statement. What are my options for making a payment?
We try to make it as easy as possible for you to make your purchase and get
back to the rest of your day. Easy Quilt Kits excepts Visa, MC American
Express and Discover, as well as PayPal and electronic checking. You may also
opt to place an order by mail and send a paper check or money order . You may
also call us at 1-800-939-5487 and we can take your information over the
phone.
Are your kits
made in America? Yes. Although we have been
encouraged (strongly) to go overseas to say, maybe China. "That is where the
money is", we are told. But we want to be able to control the quality of our
product line. Sometimes kits that are made overseas do not have the same
quality fabrics as say you would buy yourself at a local quilt shop. True we
could purchase these overseas fabrics at a cost of a dollar or less a yard and
possibly bring down our prices. But these fabrics do not hold up to normal
wear and tear of daily use, and they don't hold their colors either. You
are going to be putting a lot of time and love into your quilt projects, so
obviously you are going to want the absolute best fabrics available, so your
quilts will bring smiles of delight for years to come. It is also true
that labor is much much cheaper overseas, but we know what the work
environment for these people are and really do you want to support that? We
don't, so that is why we are a "made in America" company ! Sorry that was so
long, I guess I'll have to work harder to stay of my "soap box". :o)
What if I want to pay by check or money order?
When you
checkout in the "Choose payment option" box you will see "pay by check or
money order" click this box and follow the instructions. We now offer instant
on-line checking, so you don't have to wait for your check to get to us and
clear before your order is processed. Go through the same procedure as for a
reg. check and once you have your invoice with your totals, simply click the
Qchex option and fill in the check with your routing and check information.
Not to worry, this process is through a secure SSL server.
Are there any cookies (hidden
tracking device some e-commerce sites activate) in your site?
No, Easy Quilt Kits does not believe in them or use them. Our web site has a
secure shopping cart and we only use information gathered when placing your
order for internal purposes. We do not give out client information for any
reasons.
What if I happen to ruin a piece?
Not to
worry, most kits come with extra pieces. For those that don't, like the
appliqué animals or the BOM kits, you can always send us the ruined pieced along with $1.00
and a self address envelope and we will send you a replacement immediately.
How do I apply the shapes
in the kits?
You will laugh when you see how easy it is! Just peel off the backing of the
shape, position it over the fabric, iron, then you are done!
Are the kits different
colors than on the web?
Sometimes, but they all are representative of the picture and color theme shown
on web. For instance if the fabric is made up of a country nave print with tan
accents than even though the print might not be exactly what it shown it will
be a navy country print with tan accents. The reason being is fabric product
lines change every few months, so we can not guarantee exact matches to the
pictures on web or brochures. We do guarantee that the kit you receive will be
close to the picture, coordinated in theme colors and very beautiful! We are
adding fabric samples more and more and these are what you can expect to get
in your kits. As an example go to our
Advanced Designs page to see our Asian Treasure and the fabric samples
shown.
Can I wash the quilt after
I make it?
Yes, you can wash it and dry
it! We use quality quilters 100% cottons which insure that the fabrics are
durable and will hold their color though many washings. Quilts often look
better after they have been through the laundry a few times. At trade shows,
the quilt that gets the most admiration and ‘ooohing’ is over The Rosebud
quilt that Ericka’s daughter has used and abused for the first 3 years of her
life. It has been washed over 75 times!
Are instructions included?
Yes, we put a lot of time and
effort into making sure our instructions are complete and accurate. We provide
plenty of diagrams and helpful tips, we also provide a email address that you
can write to if you run into any problems..Are the instructions
available in any other languages than English?
Yes, we will be happy to provide you with instructions in whatever language
you need. Well, any major language that is. ;o)
How do I sew on a photo
sleeve?
This is easy and you have options. You can use the enclosed precut photo
sleeve and just sew with your machine as if it were fabric! Use a 1/8 inch
seam allowance, and go for it! Hint: use scotch tape to hold two sides while
you sew the third, then move tape to sew the rest. The tape helps keep your
photo sleeve stable and won't leave residue or pin marks (don't pin it on).
Second choice, use embroidery
floss (2 strands) and a primitive stitch to sew sleeve on. Make 1/2 inch
stitches and make each stitch about 1/4 inch wide so it looks primitive. It
doesn't matter if they are even or spaced out exactly - that is the beauty of
the 'primitive' look. I suggest using cream colored floss.
How do I hang my Easy
Quilts Kit wall-hanging?
A couple of ways are
available: You can buy a quilt wooden hanger with dowel, or you can have a rod
sleeve sewn in back of your quilt and hang it on an invisible dowel on wall,
or simply nail two tiny nails in the corners. Tie two little hoops to back and
hang these hoops on tiny nails in the wall. (Our favorite).
What is a 'Fat Quarter'?
While a regular quarter yard of fabric is 9" wide and 44" long, a "fat"
quarter is the same amount of fabric cut "fat". Fat quarters are twice as wide
(18") but only half as long (22"). It's a little more versatile and the
perfect size for those little bits you need for quilting projects.
Do the kits come in any
other sizes than those shown?
Yes, we offer custom sized
kits of all the patterns shown. It takes approximately 4-6 weeks for a custom
kit. Look under custom orders for
examples, and more information
